Quality Engineer

Azenta are looking for an experienced Quality Engineer to join the team in Irlam on a permanent basis. We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Quality Engineer to join our dynamic team. You will be used to working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Hold excellent problem-solving skills and have working knowledge of 5Whys and Fishbone Diagram.

What You’ll Do

As a Quality Engineer, you will be responsible for ensuring that all products produced meet the required quality standards. Your role is crucial in minimizing quality costs while maximizing customer satisfaction.

In this role, you will manage quality issues raised in the Quality Management System, ensuring they are resolved swiftly to prevent any impact on the customer.

You will also play a key role in supporting new product introductions, ensuring the robustness and reliability of product builds from the outset.

The role requires you to work both independently, taking ownership of tasks with minimal supervision, and collaboratively within a team to implement and refine best practices focused on defect prevention.

Manage all quality-related issues raised from the Field, the Installation Team, Service Team, and Customers.

Work with internal and external stakeholders to resolve quality issues that arise quickly and efficiently, ensuring quality and safety standards are not compromised.

Lead and facilitate problem-solving sessions using tools such as 8D Methodology, 5Whys and Fishbone Diagram, FMEA, and SPC to drive continuous quality improvements.

Identify the root cause of product quality issues and initiate permanent corrective actions.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Production, Engineering, and Supply Chain, to enhance product quality and implement process improvements.

Monitor and update the Quality Dashboard, tracking key performance indicators (KPIs), including Defects Per Unit, to maintain high-quality standards.

Train and mentor staff on quality control practices and Lean methodologies

Manage multiple projects simultaneously

Support new product introductions to ensure the robustness of product builds

Review and Approve Engineering changes

What You’ll Bring

Able to prepare and analyse quality reports, providing insights and recommendations for continuous improvement.

Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles to streamline processes, reduce waste, and increase overall efficiency.

Excel, Pivot Tables, Charts

Working knowledge of 5Whys and Fishbone Diagram.

Manage multiple projects

Relevant manufacturing/engineering experience,

Be able to interpret engineering drawings
